Glass vase made by Železný Brod Glassworks, Czechoslovakia. This one’s design No. 70023 — a known and documented form featured in Hi Sklo Lo Sklo by Mark Hill (page 49). It’s a great example of the kind of bold colour and form the studio was known for in the mid-20th century.
The body is citrine glass with two striking green ‘wings’ rising at each side — clean, sculptural, and unmistakably Czech in its styling. There’s also an engraved Praha design on the body, adding a nice bit of character and context.
Height is approx. 27.5cm. Strong presence, great colour contrast, and a definite statement piece for a collector or a modernist display.
